Everyone knows the myth about throwing salt over your shoulder. What about the truth in throwing salt down on your napkin? Often when eating out and ordering a pre-dinner drink, a cold ice-tea, or having a brew during a happy hour, a server will bring me a small napkin and my drink glass. I set the container down on the napkin and of course the very first time I lift my glass to take a drink, my napkin sticks as though glued to the bottom of my drink. There is a solution! Once the napkin is set at your table just sprinkle some salt on the napkin and set your drink on the salted napkin. It doesn’t take much salt at all. Your glass absolutely will not stick to the napkin. It is like magic! For a time I just assumed everyone knew this handy little trick until just the other day. I was at a Bar & Grill or lunch and salted my napkin. The server came over with my food and asked about the salting of my napkin she had noticed. I could just tell by her tone and expression that she thought it was odd. I guess not everyone doesn’t know this little trick. Now they do!
