Whether, white, brown, or wild rice, cooking it with boiling water in a huge pot has never been a problem for me. My rice has always turned out just fine. Our son left a rice cooker home when he moved the last time and it has been sitting in my pantry for quite some time. A recent heat wave and the need for cooked brown rice made me finally get it out, dust it off, and give it a try. It works great! I made 3 cups of rice in about 15 minutes, and didn’t heat and steam up my kitchen in the process, which in turn didn’t cause the air conditioning to work even harder in the summer heatwave! The rice was delicious, and I could put my attention elsewhere while the electric rice cooker did its thing. I have added other ingredients with the rice: mushrooms, dried cranberries with a bit extra water, frozen peas, spices, and the result is consistently delicious!
