Amazing Roasted Chicken – Too Easy to Believe!

Do you love those delicious rotisserie style chickens? My family sure does! They are moist and flavorful. You knew it was coming, so sorry to break the

news but they are usually quite high in sodium too! So make your own in any weather with less salt, and best of all, no rotissserie! Delicious carved and served as a main entre, it is equally delicious cold for sandwiches, or pulled from bones and saved to use in a variety of ways. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

1 large whole chicken, about 5 – 6 lbs.

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 tablespoons spanish paprika

1 tablespoon lemon pepper

1 teaspoon garlic salt

1 teaspoon ground margoram

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon ground mustard

1/2 large orange

Wash and pat dry chicken. Rub with olive oil. Mix all spices in dish.  Line large crock pot with foil to make removal so easy. If you have a small rack to keep chicken off bottom of crock pot use it too. If not, it will be fine! Place chicken in crock pot.  Place orange inside bird. Rub with spice mix. Set dial to low, cover, and cook 7 hours. Perfectly done chicken with no mess, no fuss!

Does it really get brown??? I don’t remember the chicken I put in the crock post being browned. Or is it the color of the paprika? You always make me search for one spice or another!!! Now I have to find SPANISH paprika???? Wish me luck…I’m lucky I can find anything in these huge stores around here! I’ll try this recipe next. Do you think 1 t of garlic salt is too much for a low salt diet??

When I make this the chicken does brown lightly, not like in the oven but just enough. One teaspoon does not seem like alot for an entire chicken, but that is up to you and your low-sodium diet. Hmmm, I think I will make this today!
