The next time you sit down to dinner at your home take a good look at what is on your plate. Most people aren’t aware that the food on your plate traveled an average distance of 1500 – 2000 miles from point of origin to your kitchen. Yikes! Think of the fuel used, the packaging, and the pollution probably emitted. To me an equally horrid part of the food foot path is not knowing where your food was, under what conditions, for who knows how long. And during this time did you ever think about who may have handled your food.? Much is to be said for eating food that is fresh and local. If it isn’t possible to add fresh food to your pantry try to eat food that is less processed. Eating food that is less processed will defintely help the envronment by reducing the carbon footprint. More than likey, it will also help you eat and be more healthy.
